The easiest way to prepare incense at home

The easiest way to prepare incense at home

Incense is one of the distinctive fragrances that a house is not without. Despite the spread of many other types of fresheners, incense retains its position as a freshener with unique features. It is an aromatic powder consisting of a group of perfumes mixed together. It is used for various purposes, such as perfuming clothes and homes, expelling insects and unpleasant odors from the air. It also works to calm the nerves and feel comfortable and relaxed. Incense is used in many Arab countries, but have you ever thought, dear "Supermama", about making incense at home? In this article, we present to you how to make incense at home, in easy and simple steps.

Ingredients used in making incense:

 1. Oily perfume:
You can buy oily perfume from one of the apothecary shops, or it is called incense perfume, which is its own fragrance, and you can mix it with other types of perfumes according to your desire to get a specific scent, such as a mixture with the scent of dried oud, the scent of roses, sandalwood, saffron, or even A French perfume.

2. Amber: It is the clay of the aromatic substance, i.e. it is an aromatic substance in the form of clay and comes in black.

3. Oud powder: or what is called the “dakah” of incense, and it is also available in apothecary shops. It is a fine or semi-fine woody powder, and its quantity is four to six times the amount of incense perfume. For example, buying ten tons of incense perfume is equivalent to forty to sixty tons of incense sticks, so we advise you, dear, to choose a soft bench so that it does not negatively affect the scent of incense that you want.

4. Water and sugar.

How to prepare incense:

Loosen the clay of the aromatic substance (amber pieces) by putting it on a low heat for a few minutes, and follow it until it melts and you get a soft texture so that you can use it easier later.

Take 50 grams of Oud powder and mix it with another 50 grams of incense perfume and 30 grams of melted aromatic clay, mix these ingredients well, then add small amounts of the same ingredients to them in the same proportions to this mixture, mix it again and so on until all the quantity is finished that you have, to ensure that the fragrance of incense and amber reaches all parts of the oud powder.

Burn a sample of the mixture until you smell the scent and make sure that the oud powder is saturated with perfume and amber to saturate the Oud powder with perfume and amber.

Prepare the necessary adhesive to keep the incense, which is a solution of equal amounts of water and sugar. It is placed on the fire until it mixes well.

Gradually add this substance to the mixture of incense sticks, dukkah and amber, while continuing to knead and mix the ingredients together, until you get a homogeneous mixture with a cohesive texture.

Add this mixture in a clean, dry, airtight glass bottle, and leave it for between a week and a month until the incense ferments, then use it in your usual way.
